چکیده

We study the emergence of quasiparticles in Hund’s metals with an SU(M) × SU(N )-symmetric Kondo impurity model carrying both spin and orbital degrees of freedom. We show that the coupling of the impurity spin to the conduction electrons can be ferromagnetic, notably for hole-doped iron pnictides. We derive the weak-coupling renormalization group (RG) equations for arbitrary representations of SU(M) × SU(N ). A ferromagnetic spin coupling results in a protracted RG flow, accounting for the surprising particle-hole asymmetry that is observed in the iron-pnictide systems. We establish the low coherence scale TK, which depends on the filling through the impurity representation. We also discuss the temperature dependence of the spin and orbital susceptibilities. Finally, we argue that this mechanism explains the strong valence dependence of the coherence scale observed in dilute transition-metal magnetic alloys.

Analytic response theory for the density matrix renormalization group.

We propose an analytic response theory for the density matrix renormalization group, whereby response properties correspond to analytic derivatives of density matrix renormalization group observables with respect to the applied perturbations. Both static and frequency-dependent response theories are formulated and implemented. We evaluate our pilot implementation by calculating static and frequ...

Analytic solution to the motion of mass-spring oscillator subjected to external force

The simple harmonic vibration, damping vibration and forced vibration of an oscillator attached to the massless spring are always discussed in general mechanics courses. In this article, we focus on the heavy-spring conditions. We first investigate the general situation where both viscous resistance and applied force are considered under the perspective of the renormalization group theory. Then...

Spectrality, coupling constant analyticity and the renormalization group

Analytic structure in the strong coupling constant that emerges for some observables in QCD after duality averaging of renormalization group improved amplitudes is discussed. It is shown that perturbation theory calculations are justified for the proper observables related to the two-point correlators of hadronic currents the analytic properties of which are well-established. A particular case ...

Time-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method

In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...

Luttinger Revisted-the Renormalization Group Approach

Luttinger's contributions abound in different parts of many-body physics. Here I review the ones that appear when one uses the Renormalization Group (RG) to study the subject: the Luttinger Liquid, Luttinger's Theorem (on the volume of the Fermi surface) and the Kohn-Luttinger Theorem on the superconducting instability of all metals as one approaches absolute zero.
